Lee Man Fong 'Resting horses'

Lee Man Fong 'Resting horses'

'East meets West' can be said in general about the work of Lee Man Fong, but it certainly applies to this painting in particular. The subject is entirely Dutch, but the way of painting is definitely Chinese. Lee Man Fong made it in 1950 in the Netherlands.

Art critic Cornelis Basoski wrote about this painting in the Nieuwe Haagsche Courant at that time: 'one of the beautiful and colourful creations of Lee Man-Fung'.

This is one of the forty paintings by Lee Man Fong that we have sold in recent years. No other auction house in Europe sold so much of his work.

Auction result: above €100,000.
